Designed for educators frustrated with classroom distraction, the Flip the Switch Workshop is a hands-on opportunity to learn how to take advantage of distracting mobile devices to bring students back into the learning conversation. The result is a more effective, inclusive classroom.
A startling result in the 2010 PEW Internet Research study found that...
Our students are more distracted than ever and even tried and true teaching techniques may not be working. So, what can we do as educators?

Philadelphia Flip the Switch Workshop for Educators a great success!
On June 1st, 2012 the first Flip the Switch workshop was held at the beautiful Le Meridien Hotel in Philadelphia.
Experts from Cornell and Harvard presented in a highly customized, intimate setting, showing participants how to:
- Enhance classroom interaction with cellphone polling and translate the results to more inclusive conversations.
- Adapt technologies to large or small classroom settings.
- Incorporate the latest technologies into their teaching with less effort.
- Use mobile apps and digital video to renew attention spans.
The group was mix of beginners and seasoned technology users. No advanced technology expertise was needed. Many shared their own experiences and all got a chance to practice the techniques and apps discovered by the FTS team.
A big thank you goes out to NCIIA. They provided partial scholarships on a first-come, first-serve basis.
